Welcome to Sarah Redfern Preschool
At Sarah Redfern Preschool, we believe every child deserves the best possible start to their learning journey. We provide a warm, inclusive and stimulating environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to explore and grow. Our passionate educators are committed to nurturing each child’s development through play-based learning, guided by the nationally approved Early Years Learning Framework. We work in partnership with families and the community to ensure every child is set up for success – socially, emotionally, and academically.
We are proud to be part of a public education system that prioritises high-quality early learning and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement in the Preschool
Sarah Redfern Preschool operates under the National Quality Framework (NQF), which ensures a consistent, high standard of education and care across Australia. The NQF sets expectations for regulation, assessment, and continuous quality improvement in all early childhood services.
Our preschool engages in ongoing self-assessment and quality improvement planning aligned with the National Quality Standard (NQS). This ensures that we continuously reflect on and enhance our practices to provide the best possible outcomes for children and families.
National Quality Framework
The NQF includes:
National Law and Regulations that set operational and educational standards
National Quality Standard (NQS) that outlines key areas of quality education and care
Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) that guides curriculum and learning experiences
Assessment and rating processes that benchmark services and promote excellence
These components support us in delivering exceptional early childhood education and care.
Assessment and Rating
Public preschools, including Sarah Redfern Preschool, are assessed and rated by the NSW Regulatory Authority against the seven quality areas of the NQS. These areas focus on everything from educational programs to relationships with families and the physical environment.
Preschools may receive one of the following ratings:
Significant improvement required
Working towards the NQS
Meeting the NQS
Exceeding the NQS
Excellent (by application to ACECQA)
These ratings are publicly displayed and available on the ACECQA national register. We view assessment as a valuable opportunity to showcase our strengths and identify ways we can grow further.
Self-Assessment and Quality Improvement
Self-assessment is a vital part of our planning and ensures that our practices reflect our values, goals, and community needs. We regularly review our strengths and identify areas for improvement through a collaborative process involving educators, children, and families.
Our preschool develops a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) that:
Highlights strengths across the seven NQS areas
Identifies goals for improvement
Details strategies, responsibilities, and timeframes
Is reviewed regularly and available to families and regulatory authorities
