How to enrol
Every child has the right to access quality public education in their local community. If you live in our local intake area, start your journey to join our vibrant school community today. By following the steps below:

Check your eligibility: use School Finder to confirm if your address is within our local intake area.

Prepare and apply online: before completing your online application, please ensure you prepare the following documents and have them ready to upload in the 'supporting documents' section of your child's online enrolment:
- Birth certificate, passport and/or citizenship certificate
- Medicare immunisation records
- Medical forms- asthma plans, anaphylaxis and/or allergy ASCIA plans, speech, OT, or any other medical reports the school needs
- Current proof of address (a minimum of 4 documents) lease agreement, council rates, gas, electricity, water, car registration, insurance, internet, etc
- Where applicable, please provide any formal Family Court Orders, custody arrangements and/or AVOs. Please be assured, all documents remain confidential.

Other enrolment details for our school
All new enrolments from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be completed online (for students with Temporary Visa status, please refer below for details on how to enrol).
View the Parent Enrolment Checklist to see what documents are required for your child's enrolment. Please ensure all supporting documents are also uploaded to avoid delays in processing the application.
To help us best support your child, please provide complete information about their needs, including any allergies, health conditions or additional learning and support requirements. A risk assessment may be conducted if needed.
During the enrolment process you will be required to provide:
- Proof of your child’s identity and date of birth (e.g. birth certificate or passport)
- Proof of residential address - 100 Points proof of address (e.g. driver's licence, rates notice or lease, utility bills)
- Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Immunisation Register. (AIR)
- Any family court orders (if applicable)
- Medical information: Copies of any medical/healthcare or emergency action plans. For example, a child with allergies will need to have an Action Plan for Allergic Reactions, which must be completed and signed by your doctor and provided to the school.
- Other health, disability or learning and support needs: you will need to provide copies of medical/healthcare or emergency action plans and/or evidence of any disability, learning and support plans.
- Attend an interview with the principal.
Children with Disability or Additional Learning Needs
We welcome and support children of all abilities at Sarah Redfern. The Department of Education provides a range of support options, including:
- In-class support within your local school
- Specialist support classes in mainstream schools
- Special schools (Schools for Specific Purposes or SSPs)

Changing Schools
If your child is transferring from another public school, please complete an online enrolment form and upload all required documents listed in the Parent Enrolment Checklist including your child's two most recent school reports. If you need assistance, please contact us. Depending on your residential address, you may need to complete an out-of-area enrolment application.

Visit the Temporary Residents Program website for comprehensive information and application details. We recommend you apply with them when you have your visa and before you have an Australian address to get the process started.

School contributions
In NSW public schools, all financial contributions are voluntary. Every student has full access to the curriculum, regardless of whether contributions are made.
