Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Naidoc Week
Our school focused on the 2025 theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," to honor the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Here is a sample of the activites undertaken as a community.
A range of activities were arranged to celebrate with some examples below:
- Indigenous games and art
- Musical performances by First Nations artists
- Welcome to Country ceremonies led by local Elders
- Student-led speeches on culture and community
Sarah Redfern Multicultural Parade
This event is where our students celebrate diversity of cultures in the school's community through parades, performances, food and art.
Parade of Nations: where our students walk together carrying flags from their countries of origin or heritage, as a way to visually represent our school's diversity of cultures. Our students, staff and community are also encouraged to wear their cultural dress to contribute to the spirit and the importance of this great event.
Our students present traditional dances, music, and a range of cultural performances. This special event brings our entire school community together to celebrate the richness of our diversity.
Inclusive Sports Day Excursion
Students recently participated in the NSW School Sport Unit’s Inclusive Sports Day, a fantastic event celebrating participation, teamwork, and inclusion.
The day provided students from K–12, across support, SSP, and mainstream settings, with the opportunity to experience a wide range of sports in a supportive and encouraging environment. All activities were modified and adapted to suit the needs of every student, ensuring everyone could take part, have fun, and experience success.
Students rotated through a variety of sports including AFL, basketball, cricket, football, goalball, netball, table tennis, and more, learning new skills and enjoying the spirit of friendly competition.
The Inclusive Sports Day was a wonderful reminder that sport is for everyone, and our students represented our school with enthusiasm, teamwork, and pride.
"We love our school for its supportive community and commitment to every student’s success. Our child feels safe and inspired every day.” — a parent of Sarah Redfern Public School
